Acting Through Song Voice Class
Central Florida Vocal Arts will lead you through a variety of concepts and exercises, helping to build confidence in yourself. Join us for Acting Through Song, an introductory class for all music lovers, meeting on Wednesdays from 11:00AM – 12:00PM! This 4-week class will explore concepts on truthful acting, vocal technique, musical expressivity, and storytelling through song. Participants will build confidence as you exercise your minds, bodies, voices, and emotional range, all in a supportive and encouraging environment. Participants will sing songs in a variety of musical styles by beloved artists and storytellers, working together as a group and as solo performers for those who feel comfortable. Most of all, students will have fun and make friends through performing arts studies. No prior music experience is necessary to attend. Whether you’ve been singing in the shower for years or with a choir, this class is for you! A note about this program series: After registering for the first class in this four-part series, attendees are expected to attend all four sessions (January 18, 25, February 1, 8) in order to gain the most out of this program. If you cannot attend all four sessions, please allow someone else to register for this limited-capacity program. This program is presented by teaching artists from Central Florida Vocal Arts and is hosted by the Winter Park Health Foundation and Central Florida Vocal Arts. ??About the Presenter:?? Felicia Melcer holds dual degrees in Vocal and Theater Performance. It is her belief that a song is a monologue with pitch, rhythms and inner expression. Felicia has been able to share this belief with countless students of all ages and experience levels for many years. She has been blessed to be able to implement this philosophy in her own Musical Theater roles including Aldonza in Man of La Mancha, Eliza Doolittle in My Fair Lady, Sarah Brown in Guys and Dolls, Amalia Balash in She Loves Me and Agnes in I Do! I Do! and Fastrada in Pippin. Felicia was the Owner and the Director of Central Florida Music Studio from 2005-2020 where she wrote and mounted musical theater productions for her voice students in such venues as the Margeson and Goldman Theaters at Orlando Shakes. She also trained in Musical Improv at the IO Theater in Chicago in 2018. Felicia was so excited to share this skill back in Orlando, and ran classes and performances at both the Tinderbox and Ad Lib Theaters. Currently, she is thrilled to be a voice teacher with Central Florida Vocal Arts, sharing the gift of music and theater with her amazing students.
