Susan G. Komen More Thank Pink Walk Orlando

Susan G. Komen Florida, an arm of the world’s largest organization dedicated to the fight against breast cancer, is inviting the community to join them in celebrating those who have survived, supporting those currently in the fight, and honoring those we have lost, for the first annual More Than Pink Walk TM Orlando. The walk will bring together hundreds of supporters to share laughter and tears, and raise much needed funds for breast cancer treatment, patient advocacy, and lifesaving research.
“We are on the front lines in the fight against this disease that affects 1 in 8 women,” shared Kate Watt, Komen Florida Executive Director. “We’ve become the first responders, fielding calls from dozens of women each day who don’t know where to turn or have no funding for screenings, treatment and so much more. Walks like this one encourage camaraderie and provide hope to so many who may feel hopeless. It is so much more than just raising money. We create support for those who need us most.”
Opening ceremonies for the event will kick off with the always emotional and inspiring Parade of Hope, honoring and recognizing survivors and those living with metastatic breast cancer. Following the parade, attendees are invited to join the walk around the lake at Cranes Roost Park.
Deborah Hausman, the daughter and granddaughter of two breast cancer survivors, will serve as chair of this event. Funds raised during the MORE THAN PINK WalkTM Orlando support Komen Florida’s efforts to ensure that all those diagnosed with breast cancer receive the care they need, as well as invest in breakthrough research. Attendees will see this work come to life during the event as Komen Florida features the incredible stories of local individuals throughout the morning long event. These individuals represent the ways that Komen Florida provides needed care, mobilizes communities drives research, and takes action in the fight to end breast cancer. The National Presenting Sponsor is Bank of America.
