About Us

Drowning is a leading cause of death for children and we're on a mission to change that! The Winter Park Blue Dolfins Foundation, Inc is a 501(c)3 Non-Profit Organization dedicated to creating a world where swimming is accessible to all, empowering individuals of every ability to develop this essential skill for lifelong well-being and safety.

We work in the water:
-Free swim lessons for children and adults
-Low cost ongoing swim lessons
-Partnerships with community organizations to provide survival skills swim lessons to traditionally underserved communities

We work on deck:
-Free CPR, rescue breathing, and emergency response training for parents, teens, and caregivers
-Education campaigns for water safety and drowning prevention awareness campaigns

We work in the home and community:
-Educational info to “waterproof” homes
-Community outreach for new parents on the dangers of drowning for children under age 4
-Information for new homeowners on safeguarding children around water in their new home and community

Our big community-wide initiative: Drowning Prevention Week (July 18th - 25th)
-Drowning Prevention Week is a community-wide initiative led by the Winter Park Blue Dolfins Foundation to raise awareness about drowning risks and promote the lifesaving value of water safety education.
-The week kicks off with a free community swim lesson and a special meet-and-greet with five-time Olympian and world record holder Alia Atkinson. Each day will feature a unique opportunity to learn, engage, and take action to prevent drowning.
-The week's activities culminate on July 25, as the Foundation joins organizations and communities around the world in observing World Drowning Prevention Day, a global day dedicated to raising awareness and promoting solutions that can save lives.

Our current capital project:
-The Blue Dolfins Foundation, Inc. has partnered with the City of Winter Park to renovate the Cady Way Complex. We’re adding a new Olympic-sized pool, three competition-level beach volleyball courts, and creating a revitalized historic green space.
-With the addition of more pool space, we’ll be able to offer swim lessons to thousands more children — helping to save lives, promote fitness, and build a lifelong love of the water.
